One Game Can Make a Difference
The 2026 Firefighter vs. Veterans Sled Challenge
Firefighters and veterans came together for a very different kind of hockey game — one played entirely in sleds.
The event gave first responders and veterans the chance to experience adaptive hockey firsthand while supporting Hockey Mentors and helping raise awareness of inclusive sports opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
For many of the players, it was their first time ever in a sled. What started with a little uncertainty quickly turned into competition, teamwork, laughter, and a whole lot of respect for the athletes who play sled hockey regularly.
