Hockey Mentors provides free adaptive skating and sled hockey programs for children, veterans, and individuals with disabilities throughout Metro Detroit. Every participant is paired with caring volunteers who build confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging—one skate at a time.
Our mission is to use hockey to build confidence, independence, and community for children, veterans, and individuals with disabilities through free adaptive skating and sled hockey programs.

Every donation helps keep Hockey Mentors free for the families we serve. Your support provides adaptive equipment, sled hockey gear, ice time, coaching, and volunteer training so children, veterans, and individuals with disabilities can experience the joy of hockey.

Volunteers are the heart of Hockey Mentors. Whether you're an experienced hockey player or simply want to make a difference, you'll be paired with participants to encourage, support, and celebrate every milestone on and off the ice.

Throughout the year, Hockey Mentors hosts adaptive skates, family events, community fundraisers, and sled hockey experiences that bring people together. Every event supports our mission of building confidence, friendships, and community through hockey. Join us at one of our upcoming events listed below.

"Hockey is for everyone."
"Sled hockey gear is not cheap, but the feeling of community on the ice is invaluable. Teammates and volunteers are the kindest, toughest, most spirited folks you could ever hope to meet... Knowing this inclusive environment exists and is made affordable by generous donors makes me proud to live in Metro Detroit."
