For veterans and individuals with mobility challenges.
No experience needed. Equipment provided.
Most participants are trying sled hockey for the first time.

Sled hockey is an adaptive form of ice hockey designed for individuals with lower-body mobility challenges. Players sit in specially designed sleds and use two sticks to move, pass, and shoot.
At Hockey Mentors, we focus on making the sport welcoming, supportive, and beginner-friendly. No experience is needed—just a willingness to try.
Not sure if sled hockey is a good fit? You’re not alone—most participants are trying it for the first time. This program may be a great fit if you:
If you’re unsure, reach out—we’re happy to talk through it.
Josh Deneau is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Tier 1 player with Metro Detroit Sled Hockey.
With years of experience in the sport, Josh provides guidance, structure, and support to help new participants succeed on the ice. His experience as both a player and veteran helps create a supportive environment for others stepping onto the ice for the first time.

Hockey Mentors has partnered with Motor City Veterans Hockey to expand opportunities for veterans interested in adaptive hockey.
Motor City Veterans Hockey has been a strong supporter of this program from the start, helping connect participants to a broader veteran hockey community and providing opportunities for continued involvement in the sport.
Together, we are creating a welcoming entry point for new players while building pathways to stay engaged in hockey long-term. Learn more about Motor City Veterans Hockey
